Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)
@ Waterway Primary School
Welcome to the vibrant world of Co-Curricular Activities at Waterway Primary School! We believe that education extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom. Our CCAs form an integral part of our holistic curriculum, providing students with a dynamic platform to discover their passions, forge lifelong friendships, and develop the character needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Whether your child is a budding technologist, a passionate athlete, a creative artist, or a future community leader, there is a place for them to shine, grow, and contribute here at Waterway Primary.
Our CCA Vision
“Vibrant CCA Landscape @ WAPS that empower Students to RISE (Develop Interests, Deepen Skills) and Shine (Opportunities to Compete, Showcase, Serve and Lead)”
We envision our CCAs as a primary catalyst for character development, where students naturally internalize our core school values of Responsibility, Integrity, Self-discipline, and Empathy (R.I.S.E.). Through dedication to their chosen activities, students build the resilience and collaborative spirit required to navigate the future with confidence and purpose.
Objectives of Our CCA Programme
Our CCA programme is thoughtfully designed to achieve the following core objectives:
-
Character Building & Values Inculcation: CCAs provide authentic, real-world scenarios for students to practice the R.I.S.E. values. From demonstrating sportsmanship on the field to showing empathy in community projects, students learn to lead with character.
-
Developing Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC): Through specialized training and collaborative projects, students actively develop vital skills such as Critical and Inventive Thinking, Civic Literacy, and Cross-Cultural Communication.
-
Discovering and Honing Talents: We aim to provide a safe, encouraging environment where students can explore new interests, unlock hidden talents, and achieve personal excellence in physical, aesthetic, and intellectual pursuits.
-
Fostering Social Integration: CCAs bring together students from different classes and backgrounds, promoting mutual respect, inclusivity, and a strong sense of belonging to the Waterway family.
Our CCA Policy
To ensure that every student gains the maximum benefit from our programmes, Waterway Primary School observes the following CCA policies:
-
Encouraging Active Participation: While CCAs are strongly encouraged for all students starting from Primary 3, we aim for 100% participation. We believe that committing to a CCA is essential for a truly holistic primary school experience.
-
Commitment and Attendance: Character is built through consistency. Students are expected to uphold their commitment to their chosen CCA by maintaining regular attendance during weekly sessions and participating enthusiastically in related events or competitions.
-
CCA Allocation: In Primary 3 Semester 1, students will participate in a CCA Discovery programme that culminate in them making options for their CCA. While we strive to allocate students to their top choices, placements are subject to availability, school representation needs, and the optimal capacity of each club or team.
-
Changing CCAs: We teach our students the value of resilience and honoring commitments. Therefore, students are generally expected to remain in their allocated CCA throughout their primary school journey. Requests for CCA transfers are only considered on a case-by-case basis, supported by valid reasons (e.g., medical conditions).
